The Advanced Impact program at Wellspring Lutheran Services works with families to reduce the risk for child abuse and/or neglect so children are able to safely live in their own homes. The program is operated from Wellspring's Grand Rapids office and serves Clinton, Gratiot, Montcalm and Ionia counties through contracts with the Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS).
Wellspring staff work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and emergency contact instructions are given to each client which includes the worker's cell phone number. Staff are trained in motivational interviewing techniques and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and maintain a client-centered, strength-based approach.
Advanced Impact accepts referrals from Children's Protective Services. Master's-level therapists see families at least twice a week for a period of four to six months.
