Foster Care Success
Turning the Tide
Trooper Sanders entered foster care through LCFS as a baby. He was placed with the Witto family, who gave love and support to both Trooper and his biological mother until he could be returned home at age two. Trooper Sanders was named Deputy Director of Policy and Projects for First Lady Michelle Obama.
"Until later in life, I didn't realize how seamless the process really was for me. I remember thinking that this was normal for all children. My mom was such a big part of my life during those first two years that I never questioned why I wasn't living with her.
"I have always known that I would not be alive, nor on a good path in life today, without a strong family surrounded by lots of support. My life is possible because of the public service of people like the Wittos, and that's why I make my life about public service."
